Gift Cards
DICTATORSHOP gift cards are standard CasperVend gift cards.
A note to gift card purchasers
The gift cards are not boxed up, and should never be unpacked, as that will break them and make them null and void. On delivery the gift cards are no-transfer; you need to rez the card and it will register with the system and become transferable. Be sure not to rez onto mesh surfaces, as sometimes that fails and the card goes to lost and found and may need a relog to see. To be safe, simply rez on the ground, or find a good sandbox (opens in a new tab) where you can rez safely.
To use your gift card

Wear your gift card and go to DICTATORSHOP in-world (opens in a new tab) , find the item you want, then right click the vendor and choose Touch. That item should show on the right side of the gift card; then click "Buy Now" to make the purchase.
If you click the vendor and the pay window pops up on its own, just right click and choose Touch from the menu, and the item should appear in the window on the gift card.
You can see the credit on your card from the hovertext above it. If your item costs more than the credit you have, it will ask for debit permissions. This is a valid use of debit permissions, but it can feel alarming, because it lets an object draw on your Linden dollars to cover the difference between your credit and the total due. If you would rather not grant permissions, there is a small terminal on the information desk at the front of the main store where you can top off your card with exactly the amount you need, and then no debit permissions are required:
- Wear the gift card so it appears on your HUD.
- Pay the terminal to increase the gift card balance.
- Purchase as described above.
A general warning: protect yourself, and never grant permissions to objects you are not sure about. Reputable vendors will have a top-off terminal in their shop for you; if you are ever using a gift card somewhere this is not available, contact the shop owner and ask for one.
A note about older gift cards
Some of the older cards were not working with the top-off kiosk due to version differences. All cards issued now are updated. You can tell from the description field on the card: the old description simply said "Gift Card", while the newer ones say "v2.30 Gift Card". If you have a card you are trying to top off that does not show the version in its description, please get in touch for a fix.
Accepting debit permissions for amounts over the credit on the card works fine; there is nothing wrong with the cards unless you are trying to top off, in which case the kiosk will simply refund your payment and tell you to wear your gift card (not terribly helpful, as messages go). Sorry for any inconvenience.
